    Adams Legacy Home at Windcliff: Panoramic RMNP Views, Steps from Park, Wildlife

    The Adams condo is a Windcliff Family Legacy home at prestigious Windcliff Estates is situated right where you want to be --- nestled beside the Rocky Mountains at almost 9,000 feet. And, since “mountain living” is what you are after, start in the “living” room at Adams. It offers beamed, vaulted, and feature-lit ceilings. The moss-rock fireplace offers a fresh stack of firewood at the ready for cozying up with the family. Plush leather sofas and platform rockers offer welcome respite and the perfect setting for conversation and story telling when the sun has finally slipped behind the mountains. Cozy rocking chairs offer pleasant seating to read. A spectacular eagle wind vane is perched decoratively atop a sideboard --- its arrow pointed forever west from whence the spirit winds blow. The northwest corner of the living room harbors a grand desk where you can begin your next novel --- or your first.     A mighty Ponderosa Pine (that was likely here when they established Rocky Mountain National Park over a century ago) keeps watch over you and whispers quiet secrets to the wind. Huge plugs of weathered granite protrude from the ascending forest landscape across the way. Snow-dappled Hallet Peak (12,720’), a jagged, glacial-wrought “tooth of time,” looms directly in front of you. Its sister peaks of the Front Range on the Continental Divide array themselves side-by-side in orderly fashion for your inspection. And, this evening out on the deck may be so still that you’ll say, “Listen, can you hear that?” And, if the answer is, “No, what is it?” You can say, “THAT is the sound of silence.”

    The Adams kitchen is fresh, bright, and fully-equipped. As one guest said, “I packed things from home that just ‘went for a ride.’ Everything we needed was already here!” The long bar defining the kitchen space lets some be cooks while others serve as anticipatory spectators. The dining room features an expansive picture window presenting a perfect picture of forest, mountains, and sky. A cadre of Aspen trees marches down the water trough angling beside the Adams residence dressed in the uniform of the season --- brilliant green in summer or a dazzling yellow for the days of fall. And, the sprawling south deck just outside has the biggest “window on the world” of all.


    As you descend the main staircase to the gracious master and guest suites, pause on the landing to admire the magnificent photographic portrait of a bull elk standing surveying his realm from Estes Park’s historic MacGregor Ranch. The ranch was founded by Alexander and Clara McGregor in 1873 when they had the pick of some of the most beautiful tracts in the world. The same can be said of the Adams when they came to Windcliff. And, to underscore their choice of a setting for their home, the same mighty bull elk may be standing in their yard for you this evening as night falls. Both the master and the guest suites have stunning mountain views.     When you are ready for a trek you are but a five-minute stroll from Adams to Windcliff’s own private entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. The pathway leading invitingly into the Park follows the valley of a stream rightfully dubbed Aspen Brook that was the original track natives and early settlers from the east used to access the Estes Valley. You can add your footprints to the tracks of moccasins and boots that were here before to point the way.
