  1. ADAMS

Adams Legacy Home at Windcliff: Panoramic RMNP Views, Steps from Park, Wildlife

The Adams condo is a Windcliff Family Legacy home at prestigious Windcliff Estates is situated right where you want to be --- nestled beside the Rocky Mountains at almost 9,000 feet. And, since “mountain living” is what you are after, start in the “living” room at Adams. It offers beamed, vaulted, and feature-lit ceilings. The moss-rock fireplace offers a fresh stack of firewood at the ready for cozying up with the family. Plush leather sofas and platform rockers offer welcome respite and the perfect setting for conversation and story telling when the sun has finally slipped behind the mountains. Cozy rocking chairs offer pleasant seating to read. A spectacular eagle wind vane is perched decoratively atop a sideboard --- its arrow pointed forever west from whence the spirit winds blow. The northwest corner of the living room harbors a grand desk where you can begin your next novel --- or your first. And, if ever a deck beckoned, “Come sit with me for a spell,” the west deck at Adams certainly does.

A mighty Ponderosa Pine (that was likely here when they established Rocky Mountain National Park over a century ago) keeps watch over you and whispers quiet secrets to the wind. Huge plugs of weathered granite protrude from the ascending forest landscape across the way. Snow-dappled Hallet Peak (12,720’), a jagged, glacial-wrought “tooth of time,” looms directly in front of you. Its sister peaks of the Front Range on the Continental Divide array themselves side-by-side in orderly fashion for your inspection. And, this evening out on the deck may be so still that you’ll say, “Listen, can you hear that?” And, if the answer is, “No, what is it?” You can say, “THAT is the sound of silence.”

The Adams kitchen is fresh, bright, and fully-equipped. As one guest said, “I packed things from home that just ‘went for a ride.’ Everything we needed was already here!” The long bar defining the kitchen space lets some be cooks while others serve as anticipatory spectators. The dining room features an expansive picture window presenting a perfect picture of forest, mountains, and sky. A cadre of Aspen trees marches down the water trough angling beside the Adams residence dressed in the uniform of the season --- brilliant green in summer or a dazzling yellow for the days of fall. And, the sprawling south deck just outside has the biggest “window on the world” of all.

As you descend the main staircase to the gracious master and guest suites, pause on the landing to admire the magnificent photographic portrait of a bull elk standing surveying his realm from Estes Park’s historic MacGregor Ranch. The ranch was founded by Alexander and Clara McGregor in 1873 when they had the pick of some of the most beautiful tracts in the world. The same can be said of the Adams when they came to Windcliff. And, to underscore their choice of a setting for their home, the same mighty bull elk may be standing in their yard for you this evening as night falls. Both the master and the guest suites have stunning mountain views. The “pillow views” in the master suite require you only to part your toes for that first glimpse of the world upon awakening is the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains.

When you are ready for a trek you are but a five-minute stroll from Adams to Windcliff’s own private entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. The pathway leading invitingly into the Park follows the valley of a stream rightfully dubbed Aspen Brook that was the original track natives and early settlers from the east used to access the Estes Valley. You can add your footprints to the tracks of moccasins and boots that were here before to point the way.

As one guest wrote after a visit to Adams: “We so enjoyed our weekend break away from normal life.” Visit the Adams condominium, Windcliff, and Rocky Mountain National Park at Estes Park and discover a whole NEW “normal” for your life.

A SPECIAL CONSIDERATION: Although Estes Park [Rocky Mountain National Park’s gateway community] is only 15 minutes distant by car, you will always feel securely tucked away at “Adams” --- separated from the “hustle and bustle” of people and their traffic. The Windcliff enclave embracing the “Adams” residence is a private residential community comprising 260 acres on the sunny western slopes of Ram’s Horn Mountain. It is served by a single entrance to private roads with no through streets or heavy traffic. It is truly a world apart!

  2. ALLEMAN NORTH

Alleman North Legacy Home at Windcliff w/Wrap-Around Continental Divide & RMNP Views

“Alleman North” is the top-story of the legacy Aspencliff Condominium duplex stunningly situated on the ramparts of Ram’s Horn Mountain in prestigious Windcliff Estates.

The raison d’etre for every residence at Windcliff is to stand high upon the firmament, stare unblinkingly towards the west, and drink in the majesty of the Rocky Mountains in Rocky Mountain National Park. “Alleman North” excels splendidly in that regard.

The entry is flanked with a dramatic, ascending wall faced with Rocky Mountain moss rock. As you enter the great room, you are greeted by a wondrous view --- stacks of mountains standing shoulder to shoulder just beyond the western wall of windows. The mountains are impressive in their mass and in their near proximity. Directly in your field of view, Long’s Peak rises to 14,259 feet to where wisps of clouds attend its brow. It is but one of 72 mountain summits breaching the 12,000 elevation mark in Rocky Mountain National Park. “Alleman North” has a front-row balcony seat to drink in the spectacle! Venture out onto the west deck. Directly below you is the protruding mass of exposed granite that constitutes Buser Park --- a cherished piece of real estate held in common by all the residents of Windcliff Estates. Peoples of the Arapaho and Ute nations once stood here to survey the vast hunting grounds spread before them in the valleys far below. Walk out to the precipice at Buser Park to watch the eagles soar or to be drenched in the majesty of a Rocky Mountain sunset.

The living space at “Alleman North” is a picture of comfort and repose. “L” in this household stands for “leather” and for “lounging.” Curl up in front of the view --- or the massive wood-burning fireplace and hearth that anchor the living room. A spectacular panoramic print of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains names the twenty-two tallest peaks framed in the front windows and details their heights. Fine art prints by Albert Bierstadt, Bev Doolittle, and Don Marco adorn the walls. Books and games await your hours of relaxation. The kitchen at “Alleman North” is tidy and inviting. It is equipped to accommodate your most-creative endeavors. The kitchen window affords a perfect view up the ramparts of Ram’s Horn mountain to the band of white granite grinning handsomely at the world. This noted landmark is affectionately labeled “Teddy’s Teeth” in honor of our toothsome 26th President of the United States --- Teddy Roosevelt. A wine “Honor Bar” invites you to complement your meal with a fine bottle of red from the Tuscan hills or the vines of Napa Valley. Please just replace it with an equal bottle of your choosing for the enjoyment of guests to follow. The formal dining room features magnificent views to the west and to the south, and awaits the pleasure of your company. You also have the option of dining out on the west deck where the grill is close at hand and Windcliff’s perpetual parade of wildlife awaits your sighting.

Three bedrooms are a half flight up the stairs. Historical photos adorn the walls of the hallway. They depict the travails of travel on the roads and through the passes of a more-challenging age in the Rocky Mountains back at the turn of the 20th Century. The ensuite master bedroom boasts stunning views of mountains to the south and a Broccini painting in oil. A queen bedroom overlooks the living room, the fireplace, and the views beyond. The twin suite is watched over by a captivating Carl Brenders portrait of a wolf that fixes you with the unwavering gaze characteristic of the wild and the wily.

A profound Native American Blessing is inscribed on the wall at “Alleman North:” “May the warm winds of Heaven blow softly on this house, and may the Great Spirit bless all who enter here.” It would seem that He has, judging by the remarks inscribed in the Alleman’s guest book:
“The view was more than we could have dreamed of!”
“…..from the words of DESIDERATA we saw mounted on the wall: ‘Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.’”
“The view from the balcony is absolutely breathtaking!”
“The whole front room overlooks the beautiful Rocky Mountains and offers one of the best views in town!”
“The views are incredible! You would be hard pressed to find another place in Estes Park to even come close.”
    “The views are unrivaled.”
“We enjoyed the peace and the quiet and the close proximity to Rocky Mountain National Park. Windcliff is a wonderful place to stay.”
“The aspens were in their full glory and the weather was perfect. It was our best stay ever!”

A SPECIAL CONSIDERATION: Although Estes Park [Rocky Mountain National Park’s gateway community] is only 15 minutes distant by car, you will always feel securely tucked away at “Alleman North” --- separated from the “hustle and bustle” of people and their traffic. 3. ALMOST HEAVEN

Almost Heaven at Windcliff w/Panoramic Great Room & Deck Views, Wildlife, Nature

An aspen-shaded bridge walkway leads past rock walls to a front entryway studded with leaded glass. You are almost home --- and it’s almost Heaven!

A friendly foyer offers a haven for outer garments and hiking boots. The “Great Room” just beyond exemplifies the name. The western wall is dedicated entirely to floor-to-ceiling windows that capture perfect snapshots of the peaks of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains in Rocky Mountain National Park. Tray ceilings, walls mellow-hued in an earthy pallet, and knotty accents harmonize to intone a welcoming mountain melody. Furnishings large enough for snuggling are arranged to take advantage of the magnificent views to the west. Chairs swivel, rock, or recline. A wood-burning fireplace is at hand to enhance the mood. One of three big-screen TV’s stands at the ready should the need arise. The great open quality of this main-level living space is further enhanced in the Chef’s Kitchen with its attendant Bar and Dining Room. The Kitchen is replete with the requisite vessels, implements, and tools to make the chefs in your party smile. Acres of counter space stand ready to facilitate the largest culinary productions you can envision. The gas-fired range will cater handsomely to all aficionados of “blue-flame” cooking.

Step out onto the deck wrapping the northwest corner of this wonderful piece of Heaven. Take care not to let one of the jagged peaks towering in the near distance poke you in the eye! Out here there is ample space to lounge, grill, or quench a thirsty soul by just drinking in the view. The gas-fired grill is nothing less than a Weber “Genesis Special Edition.”

The Master Suite at Almost Heaven continues the theme of floor-to-ceiling windows to cordially invite the outdoors in. A cozy, private balcony with a view to the famous Wind River Pass is perfect for two to assess distant vistas, count the stars, or soak up some moonlight. This little haven of perfect privacy has been characterized by one guest as “floating above it all.” The Master Bath features a jetted tub and an over-sized, twin-headed shower.

“Almost Heaven” is perched on the slopes of Ram’s Horn Mountain in such a way that the downstairs suites have the same wonderful views of the Rocky Mountains and the Continental Divide as the upstairs. Here, in a handsome “Family Room” environment, there is ample space for watching TV, settling in around the gaming table for dominoes or bridge, or rekindling the ancient art of conversation. Two ensuite Bedrooms beautifully round out the sleeping accommodations. There is even a special little room --- a “Kid’s Cubby” --- where a child might curl up to devour a cookie or a good book.

Comments in the Guest Book at “Almost Heaven” denote the fact that many guests return year after year. Their love of this home and its environs is reflected in their words.

“We had no idea the blessing this home would be. There are no words to describe the peace, joy, and beauty to be found in this place.”
“While driving up we always roll down our windows to listen to the quiet.”
“We loved Estes Park. We ate ice cream and fudge. We shopped. We ascended the Aerial Tram. Our kids loved the new rope course, the go-karts, the bumper boats, the bungee trampoline, and the rock climbing. And, did I mention, we ate ice cream and fudge?”
“Just soaking up this house was a highlight.”
“…….a week that nourished our souls.”
“We had a wonderful time hiking to Emerald Lake and to Copeland Falls in Wild Basin. Trail Ridge Road is always a grand adventure, too.”
“…….a quiet retreat that transports you away from the chaos, pressures, and schedules of everyday life.”
    “Thousands of photo opportunities…...”
“…….elk, big horn sheep, coyotes, deer, and even a bear!”
“…….this incredible chance to experience God’s endless Creation.”
“The mountain vistas, the glorious sunrises and sunsets, the wintry beauty, and the sacred silence…..all of that and more were ‘Rocky Mountain Life’ blessing my busy, weary spirit.”
“When our kids first saw the view our ten-year old son said, ‘This isn’t Almost Heaven, it really IS Heaven!’”

  6. ASCENT

Ascent at Windcliff: Inspiring Architecture, Views, Wildlife, Nature

A towering Ponderosa Pine stands sentinel watch over the newest home in prestigious Windcliff estates. One of Colorado’s premier architects and the Chiappe family have collaborated to create a modern masterpiece complimenting the mountains before which “Ascent” so reverently stands. Ascending roof lines greet the sky and lead every eye to that magic line on the horizon where the Western Continental Divide caresses the deep azure blue of the Colorado sky. The Divide is the backbone of Rocky Mountain National Park which adjoins Windcliff as a cherished neighbor. The exterior of “Ascent” is washed with muted earth tones. Corten architectural steel is taking on an intentional patina and luster of rust to compliment the rich wall of mahogany wood gracing a secluded outdoor patio “Deck” only begins to describe the sprawling veranda that spans the entire western facade of “Ascent.” A rugby match could be staged out here. The gas barbeque is prepped and primed. Surely a toast is in order! Spread before you in a 180-degree panorama is the grandeur of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. Count the peaks and learn their names, for now they are friends for life.

“Ascent” boasts a welcoming, open “great” room featuring a 55-inch HDTV. If cooler breezes blow, a remotely-controlled gas fireplace sports yellow flames dancing on crushed glass enhanced by LED lighting. Modern charging islands for phones and laptops abound. Ceilings far out of reach are supported by the wall of windows on the western facade of “Ascent” displaying the mountains in all their grandeur. The kitchen is brand-spanking fresh and bright. Both it and the breakfast/refreshment bar cozying up to it boast an unobstructed view of mountain peaks beckoning in the near distance. The dining area has front-row seats for the natural spectacle at hand in every direction. A “break out” room downstairs is the perfect staging area for a trail hike or an indoor game. And, the compliment of four bedrooms can handily host up to eight guests in this modern mountain retreat.

A staircase of unconventional sturdiness fit for service aboard Noah’s Ark ascends to the upper level of “Ascent.” But, no “two-by-two” is envisioned here. These stairs are intended for “two only” as vista-view windows lead to the private master suite tucked away upstairs. This fine suite could make rooms in a five-star hotel blush. Niches harbor object d’art. The view from the king-sized bed is, indeed, fit for a king. The air massage tub has its own picture window and what a picture it presents! A colossal shower stands at the ready. The closets and dressing room offer every amenity. Awake and arise! A new day is at hand. The coffee is on in the suite’s own compact kitchen. Step out onto the private corner-wrap balcony. You can actually hear the wind over the wing of a soaring eagle, taste the sky, or touch a rainbow from here. A new day is at hand. And, God is very close by and smiling.

Long’s Peak presides over Rocky Mountain National Park as its highest summit just south of Windcliff Estates and Chiappes’ “Ascent.” It first felt the gentle pressure of human feet when pre-Columbian Indigenous Peoples scaled its heights in search of eagle feathers. Surveyors with the John Wesley Powell Expedition were the first European-Americans to stand at its summit and marvel in 1868. There is plenty of “marveling” left to go around, and Long’s Peak extends its invitation to one and all.

But, whether you opt to tackle the challenging ascent routes of Long’s Peak (14,259’) during the course of your stay --- or not --- your visit to the Rocky Mountains can include a forever-memorable “Ascent” --- thanks to the Chiappe family and their beautiful Windcliff dream home.

Although Estes Park [Rocky Mountain National Park’s gateway community] is only 15 minutes distant by car, you will always feel securely tucked away at “Ascent” --- separated from the “hustle and bustle” of people and their traffic. The Windcliff enclave embracing the “Ascent” residence is a private residential community comprising 260 acres on the sunny western slopes of Ram’s Horn Mountain. It is served by a single entrance to private roads with no through streets or heavy traffic. It is truly a world apart!

  8. BREIDING UPPER

Breiding Upper at Windcliff: RMNP Panoramic Views, Hot Tub, Sun Room, Wildlife

When people dream of a “Mountain Home,” they generally envision an Alpine-styled residence far up amidst rarified air and blue skies with a dramatic view of mountains in virtually every direction. That is exactly what awaits you at prestigious Windcliff Estates’
“Breiding Upper.” Tim Breiding’s top-level duplex condo sits high up on the slopes of Ram’s Horn Mountain. Its two bedrooms and two bathrooms offer luxury accommodation for you and for two of your favorite family members or friends. A handsomely-routed, leaded-glass front door awaits your arrival in the foyer. The door opens to living space dominated by its western wall of windows focused on a vista of unparalleled splendor. The Front Range and the Mummy Range of the Rocky Mountains tower before you in Rocky Mountain National Park. Piercingly-bright blue skies dappled with a few puffy clouds rest atop the Continental Divide. Long’s Peak reaches to 14,259 feet within your field of view. A sprawling deck graces the entire western façade of “Breiding Upper” and is set with fine wicker furniture for lounging and basking, mountain viewing, or casual dining. Great trees rise up beside you. And, when visiting birds begin to sing, you are close enough at hand to truly see who is in the choir. Just below you on the slopes of the mountainside anchoring “Breiding Upper” is the mighty plug of granite known today as “Buser Park.” This extraordinary promontory is collectively owned and maintained by the residents of Windcliff Estates. You are welcome to venture out to the precipice where the Arapaho once stood to survey the Eden-like valleys below. And, just over a century ago, our forebears stood on the brink at Buser Park to dream of preserving all that their eyes could encompass as a National Park. Their success undoubtedly underscores your desire to visit this magnificent domain.

The living room at “Breiding Upper” features a soaring, beamed ceiling, an enormous wood-burning fireplace and hearth, comfortable furnishings, Blu-Ray TV, a host of games, stocked library shelves, and a window ledge where you can curl up to read or relax. Casual seating that is perfect for reading or an intimate conversation faces the western windows and all of the wonders beyond. A handsome bison reflective of the artist’s brush of Robert Bateman stares unblinking from his portrait on the wall. A formal dining area with an inlaid table and sideboard is ready to be set with mountain motif Temper-Ware china and handsome stem ware. A formal wet bar incorporates a spirit cabinet employing the honor system. Enjoy a vintage bottle of Columbia Crest Sauvignon Blanc or a hearty Italian Red. Just replace them with equal bottles of your choosing before you depart. The kitchen at “Breiding Upper” features glass-top cooking and has anticipated your every culinary need when it comes time to prepare your freshly-caught fish or a feast from scratch. The master bedroom is richly furnished and offers direct access to the western deck. The ensuite bathroom provides every standard amenity plus a bidet. The guest bedroom provides the same magnificent mountain views upon waking and a deck to sample the freshest air imaginable. But, without question, the most intriguing space at “Breiding Upper” is the sprawling family room tucked up against the slope of Ram’s Horn Mountain at its back. A soaring glass ceiling, supported by the great moss-rock fireplace, makes the room feel like a part of the landscape. Rocks and trees clamber upwards to tower over you. Wildlife flits among the giant Ponderosa roots and undergrowth. A fine wicker lounging suite invites long stints in front of the fire. A large-screen TV, a gaming table, and a free-standing rod hockey game await your pleasure. Just outside a gas grill is at the ready and a hot tub communes quietly with nature in reverent anticipation of your arrival. It’s so easy to once again fall in love with life and with one another at “Breiding Upper.” You can feel it in the words left behind by visitors to this Alpine paradise:
    • “We came for peace and quiet and time for reflection --- and found them all!”
    • “We sat in front of the windows with our morning coffee in awe of God’s handiwork.”
    • “We walked in the meadow with a herd of elk, and met a coyote on the road upon our return. But, the most exciting encounter was with ‘Brownie,’ the big brown bear that appeared at dusk last evening and meandered up to our front door.”
    • “We came here with our children to enjoy Rocky Mountain National Park. But, staying here in your home helped us to feel truly a part of the surrounding wilderness.”
    • “We never imagined how spectacular the views would be!”
    • “I think John Denver said it best: ‘Rocky Mountain High!’”
    • “Watching the sunrise is amazing.”
    • “The view is so inspiring that we can gaze at it for hours.”
    • “How cool to see so many animals just free and wild.”
    • “I have never seen so many stars!”
    • “Most of our time here was spent sitting on the deck or in front of the windows just staring out.”
    • “‘Bob’ the bobcat came by four times this visit.”
    • “A cup of steaming coffee tastes like heaven when we sit on the deck watching the mountains come alive.”
    • “My wife spent hours on the web looking for the ‘perfect place.’ She found it --- right here!”

Although Estes Park [Rocky Mountain National Park’s gateway community] is only 15 minutes distant by car, you will always feel securely tucked away at “Breiding Upper” --- separated from the “hustle and bustle” of people and their traffic. The Windcliff enclave embracing the “Breiding Upper” residence is a private residential community comprising 260 acres on the sunny western slopes of Ram’s Horn Mountain. It is served by a single entrance to private roads with no through streets or heavy traffic. It is truly a world apart!

  9. BYRD

The Byrd at Windcliff: Panoramic RMNP Views, Elegant, Hot Tub, Decks, Wildlife

Byrd is a three-story, stand-alone condominium home cascading down a steep embankment in the midst of prestigious Windcliff Estates. The “great room” at Byrd is just that --- absolutely “great!” It boasts beamed, cathedral ceilings and a generous spill of light from a row of clerestory windows. Picture windows frame the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains in Rocky Mountain National Park in all their glory. The Byrd condominium is furnished throughout with exquisitely-restored and tasteful antiques. A towering burled armoire discreetly houses the home’s entertainment center. The first of two wood-burning fireplaces has a place of honor in the great room with seating to enjoy a good fire or the warmth of good family and friends. The kitchen is modern and spotless. The antique dining table is a masterpiece. They make the idea of “dining in” rather than “going out” appealing and fun. A beautiful deck spans the entire facade of Byrd and offers a 180-degree panorama of the sky-piercing peaks of the Rocky Mountains. Take a deep breath. Repeat…..then repeat again. Here is some of the freshest air in the world --- air without additives! If Rocky Mountain air could be bottled or canned, it would top the market! The main deck offers seating for each member of your traveling party with the promise of evening shade from sheltering trees. Whether you are relaxing, refreshing, or dining --- the mountains are forever in your presence. Convene out here in the late afternoon when a symphony of clouds gathers for a cacophonous cymbal and percussion extravaganza as prelude to a mountain shower to herald the gathering dusk.

With a family name like “Byrd,” it is inevitable that you will find a “bird” theme running throughout the dwelling. In art and sculpture you will find pheasants, nesting
chickadees, eagles, hummingbirds, ducks, geese, sandpipers, roosters, and chickens (with the added adage, “The rooster crows, but the chicken delivers”). Step outside
--- away from the paintings and the pottery --- and gaze skyward to where a soaring red-tailed hawk pirouettes on the wind. Borrow the Bird Book from the plentiful collection of volumes in the library to see how many species you can catalog in the course of your visit. And, every morning that you awaken here you will be taught a new song by a feathered friend coursing or courting in the boughs outside your windows.

Venture one level down at Bird to experience the king-sized master ensuite bedroom, a guest room, and a TV lounge. This level features another grand deck with park-style seating. Descend yet another level to less rarified air, a quilt-covered king-sized bed, and a lounging area replete with a flat-screen TV and the second wood-burning fireplace. Step outside to a flagstone patio nestled among granite rocks, shrubs, and trees. A picnic table on an elevated plateau awaits your casual pleasures. And, whether you enjoy the waiting hot tub by day or by night, the mountains or the stars will be at your fingertips.

Messages to the Byrd family in their Guest Book include the following:

    “Lots of memories made here.”

“Even got a wildlife adventure at your property with wild turkeys, assorted birds, deer, elk, and even a large black bear.”

“It was great to come ‘home’ to the hot tub after a hard day’s trek in the mountains.”

“After an exciting drive up the mountain, we were greeted by all of the love and creativity invested in your beautiful mountain home.”

Thanks to the Byrds, it’s little wonder that the world flocks here. And, as the little plaque on the wall says, “If you’re lucky enough to be in the mountains, you’re lucky enough!”

  10. CEDAR LOWER

The Cedar at Windcliff: Top of the World RMNP Views, Hot Tub, Wildlife

Cedar Lower is “Life at the Top” at its very best. Cedar Upper shares the honor with its duplex partner of being the highest residence at prestigious Windcliff Estates. While searching for superlatives worthy of this magnificent home, “Eagle’s Aerie” comes to mind. Clinging to the rocky precipices of Ram’s Horn Mountain, Cedar Lower breathes rarified air at 9,000 feet above sea level. But, the jagged crown of Long’s Peak directly in its line of view rises a mile higher still to top out against the blue of the Colorado sky at 14,255 feet. You come to Windcliff and to Cedar Lower to find a lofty vantage point from which to admire the Rocky Mountains majestically interlocked in a chain to form the Continental Divide. Together these mountains tower proudly as the backbone of Rocky Mountain National Park. It is without question that Cedar Lower occupies one of the most singularly-spectacular home sights in all the world.

Come inside. The scale is grand. “Glass” is the key word for the western wall that gazes towards the mountains. Cedar Lower’s classy kitchen boasts that million-dollar view and challenges the “mountain chef” in every visitor. While singular and inspiring restaurants abound in the nearby visitor hub of Estes Park, the urge to stay grounded at Cedar Lower is overwhelming. Here “at home on the range” you can chip and chop your way to a masterpiece dinner to set before family and friends. Employing the “Tasting Colorado” cook book as a partner in the sublime, you can prepare “Chile Crab Rolls with Charrel Corn and Sriracha Mayo” without ever taking your eyes off the mountains. Or try “Chile-Citrus Shrimp with Coconut Rice and Red Curry Vinaigrette” with a glass of claret to compliment the blood-red sunset now bathing the mountains. Save the “Lamb Sliders with Mint and Tomato-Ginger Chutney” for lunch on the deck tomorrow. An “honor wine” selection invites you to “breathe” a bottle of Chateau Argadeus Bordeaux to compliment your creativity and toast the majesty of the mountains. Just replace it with a vintage of equal or greater quality at your first opportunity.

Cedar Lower was conceived and built on a grand scale. A wood-burning fireplace handily dispels any seasonal chills that may arise. Museum-quality American Indian artifacts --- rugs, pottery, shamans, basketry, and sand paintings --- abound. The master bedroom suite boasts an over-sized king bed roughly the size of Connecticut. It is positioned to take full advantage of the stunning views to the west. Panoramic canvasses adorn the walls. An elk, seemingly top-heavy with antlers, stares wistfully from the wall in a dramatic framed painting. And, outside your window a herd of live elk grazes past Cedar Lower in insidiously-slow motion. Stand understandably mesmerized. Meeting nature on its own turf poses a grand challenge to take it all in. Outside your suite a stepped path leads off amongst century trees to the rock ledges of Ram’s Horn Mountain. A hot tub positioned on the deck affords those perfect moments of relaxation as you revel in the magnificence of your surroundings. You are, after all, sitting “on top of the world.”

A visit to Cedar Lower enriches your heart, your mind, and your soul. We can hear it time and again in the words of those who have passed this way:

    • “We never want to leave.”
    • “Feeling snowflakes on our faces while staying warm in the hot tub was heaven on earth.”
    • “WOW! WOW! WOW! Amazing --- nothing short of a Fairy Tale.”
    • “This home was definitely the cherry on top of a perfect vacation.”
    • “We caught rainbow trout, climbed Chapin Peak, trekked in the tundra, and hiked to Bierstadt Lake. But, our heart was forever here in this marvelous residence.”
    • This home on the mountain top feels like a holy place.”

You are cordially invited to revel for a few days in the Rocky Mountains and at Cedar Lower --- and to inscribe similar memories indelibly upon your heart forever.
