Property Description

Welcome to “Rell” --- a top-level condominium duplex situated high up on the slopes of Ram’s Horn Mountain at prestigious Windcliff Estates. Its street address on “St. Moritz Trail” has a definite Alpine ring to it. And, well it should. You need only to step inside to understand why. A western wall of windows arrayed before you frames the majesty of the Rocky Mountains in Rocky Mountain National Park. It is a stunning portrayal of forests, tundra, and rock ascending upon rock to ever-greater heights --- all capped by a Colorado sky so blue as to defy description. Step out onto the western deck for a breath of the freshest air imaginable as you endeavor to comprehend the majesty of your surroundings. Bar stools at a bar railing compliment the traditional outdoor lounge seating and the attendant gas grill for those moments when only a meal out-of-doors will do. Tall trees hover nearby as a perch for song birds, owls, magpies, and jays. Hawks soar upon a summer thermal. And, it is here that you will discover the majesty of a Colorado nighttime sky when it is pierced with a million pricks of light. Far down in the valley the lights of the YMCA’s International Conference Center lend their twinkle like those of an Alpine village.

The living room ceiling at “Rell” is anchored aloft by heavy, kiva-like beams. The fireplace is a worthy setting to rekindle tales of the trails, waterfalls, snowfields, and glaciers that have been part of your day in the National Park. Leather seats embrace one in a special way at this hour of the evening. The “Rell” kitchen is the real thing with an elegant granite bar overlooking all culinary proceedings --- be they assembling a picnic for a day in the Park or a holiday feast. Natural lighting spills down from massive clerestory windows high overhead. The dining room, with its unparalleled views to the Front Range of the Rockies, serves both as an elegant site for meals with the Jazz tableware provided --- and as a gaming room for the games and puzzles close at hand.

Many galleries and museums could envy the variety and quality of the Native American art and artifacts arrayed at “Rell.” Limited edition prints by Robert Redbird and Bev Doolittle adorn the walls. A massive “dream catcher” awaits your biggest dreams and a chance to help fulfill them. Indian weavings, baskets, rugs, pottery, and stunning bronze sculptures chronicle the culture and character of our earliest citizens. Their footprints left marks upon the landscape of “Windcliff” in an earlier time. Today at “Rell” these characterizations of their colorful cultures leave tracks upon our hearts.

The ensuite master bedroom awakens with you every morning to the thrill of a Colorado sunrise kissing the mountain peaks with its earliest light. Nature is spread before you in full array. A handsome portrait of Samson --- reckoned to be the grandest elk ever to roam these parts --- dominates the room. A large-screen TV is at the ready --- just in case. An exterior doorway leads out to the wrap-around deck and stairs down to a garden of trees and rocks below. The guest room enjoys the same magnificent views, deck access, and a bathroom to call its own.

Many they are who have encountered the Rocky Mountain charms of “Rell,” and who have inscribed an inkling of their experience in the Guest Book.
• “What a special home --- and the view!”
• “You really can’t describe a home and surroundings like these. You have to experience them.”

• “The mountains are never the same. Their mood is dictated by the sun and the moon.”
• “This was our third stay at Rell. We simply can’t imagine staying anywhere else.”

Although Estes Park [Rocky Mountain National Park’s gateway community] is only 15 minutes distant by car, you will always feel securely tucked away at “Rell” --- separated from the “hustle and bustle” of people and their traffic. The Windcliff enclave embracing the “Rell” residence is a private residential community comprising 260 acres on the sunny western slopes of Ram’s Horn Mountain. It is served by a single entrance to private roads with no through streets or heavy traffic. It is truly a world apart!

Terrific family hiking vacation with young adult daughters

A TripAdvisor Member stayed 6 nights on 5/18/2016

Beautiful rental as pictured. Cozy and comfortable. Very peaceful place to finish each hiking day and begin each morning. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Views are truly amazing! Convenient location that feels far away from the hustle bustle but is a quick easy trip to town or to RMNP.

The View!!!!

brianmU7507YQ stayed 2 nights on 5/5/2016

My wife and I absolutely loved this location and property. Very clean, and like others have mentioned before the place is stocked with everything you need. There was no one staying at the Pollak condo below us during our stay, so we had a real quiet and relaxing time. We arrived real late at night, and Windcliff had our package ready and waiting. The drive up is not too bad even though the Rell condo is nearly at the top of the mountain side. When we got in we could see the outline of the snow capped mountains in the moonlight, and knew something special was waiting for us. The next morning we were up real early just after sun rise and we were blown away by the view of the mountains. I love a good view from places I stay, but this is just ridiculous. We had breakfast and coffee out on the deck and spent many hours just sitting out there soaking it up. One of the nights had a thunderstorm over the mountains, so watching that was pretty special too!! WiFi was very good, and we didn't even turn on a TV at all for our visit. We loved the peace and quiet, but we were still very close to Estes Park and RMNP. An excellent property with just amazing views.

Relaxing and Beautiful Get-Away

A FlipKey verified reviewer stayed 3 nights on 3/12/2016

Our Spring Break took us to Estes Park and RMNP. We weren't sure of weather, what we would be able to see or do this time of year. The weather turned out to be perfect (40's - 50's) the 2 days we explored RMNP and staying at Rell at Windcliff made our vacation even more relaxing and wonderful! The views out the condo far exceeded our expectations and our son who's hobby is photography loved it! Even with snow on the 3rd day, the beauty didn't disappoint! The condo was fully supplied with everything we could have needed and then some. It was comfortable and cozy, much better than any hotel could have offered. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! A perfect Spring Break vacation!

Rell condo in Windcliff

A FlipKey verified reviewer stayed 5 nights on 9/21/2014

Rell had a fantastic view of Rocky Mountain National Park from the picture windows in the living room, dining room and both bedrooms. We loved seeing that view each morning and again in the evening when we watched the sun set behind the Rockies. The furniture was very comfortable and the kitchen contained everything we needed. We saw mule deer and elk throughout the Windcliff properties. We were there in mid/late September and even though most nights got down into the 30s, we were never cold enough to try out the huge living room fireplace. Our last day at Rell was in the upper 70s with a clear blue sky and an intense afternoon sun beating against the entire condo length of windows. Before we left for hiking that morning, we had pulled the blinds and pleated shades on the picture windows (the dining room window only had the sheer pleated shade and no blind behind it) down to the top of the open windows underneath, left the ceiling fan on in the living room and had the kitchen and bathroom windows open. When we returned in the late afternoon, the condo was stifling and remained that way until later that evening. The ceiling fan in the living room helped that room to cool down as soon as the sun set. Installing ceiling fans in the dining room and bedrooms would help to keep the air circulating during the day. That was the only uncomfortable day we had during our 5 night stay at Rell. Since the unit does not have air conditioning, I would not recommend staying in this condo during the summer months. I'm sure it would be wonderful to stay at Rell during the winter months to have a breathtaking view of snow covered Rocky Mountain National Park and to enjoy the fireplace.
