Property Description

Hidden Hollow- An adorable cottage within walking distance to town for shopping, dining, galleries, churches, tennis, public pool, nature trails and more. Here, you have end of the road privacy, but are not secluded- very convenient. There is a ONE WEEK minimum for HOLIDAY weeks, other wise a 3 night minimum. This home could easily pass as a three bedroom home- the open loft serves as the 3rd bedroom, and shares the upstairs bathroom.The great room offers an impressive floor to ceiling gas log fireplace, beautiful hardwood floors, Cable TV with DVD, open kitchen, and dining area. Covered porch is a nice escape and overlooks the beautiful lush forest and stream- you would never believe you are just one block to town. Gas grill located just off porch. The Mst BR has a King bed and private bath with jetted tub, the loft area has a trundle bed, the guest BR has a queen bed and private bath. There is a half bath off the great room, and the laundry area is just off the kitchen. This home has central heat and air conditioning, and even though it's small - it "lives large" with all the separate living spaces available. No Smoking. Only small dogs will be considered This home has WiFi. Amenities include: WALK everywhere! 2 BR home that sleeps 6-8 Hiking trails practically outside the front door 2 TVs in the home covered back porch just off living area. Beautifully decorated Online booking has plenty of benefits, but there are a few things that just can’t be handled in bulk- Here are some things we hope you read and understand before booking any of our properties. Some, if not all of this will be in the lease you sign as well. 1-All of our properties are privately owned homes, with each having its own character and idiosyncrasies. Some have nicer linens than others, some are better ‘stocked’ than others, and some of the owners are more particular than others. All are furnished and stocked with at least the basics you will need to enjoy your stay. If there’s something that’s truly lacking, we’ll do our best to accommodate your requests, within reason. One can usually judge a property based on pricing. 2-When third parties list and/or advertise our properties, the pricing you see on their sites may not reflect the same pricing on our site. Usually, the reason is because they calculate their prices by the month to get a nightly rate. The rates you see on sites that offer “Average price of $XXX per night” or “As low as$XXX per night will NOT be the prices you pay unless you are reserving 30 nights or more. We do not ‘have to honor’ those prices, because those prices were produced by those sites to make it easier for you to read, and of course make them more appealing. We have no control of what they print on their sites. 3-There are other charges (read below about other charges- these aren’t hidden fees. Everything will be in your lease for your review BEFORE you pay. 4-Some third party sites ask you to enter your credit card info. Once entered, it shows up on your reservation as XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-0101 – we only see the last 4 digits- that’s for your protection- entering credit card info on public sites that aren’t verified is not secure- please never send this type of information in an email (to anyone). Booking engines such as Homeaway, and through our website are secure. 5-Most of our homes offer rental stays as short as two nights- Here’s how our tried and true rental period policy works: *You may request a reservation for the following year IF you are renting the same property for the same time period and the period is at least 30 nights. That’s the first hurdle, the last hurdle?- we have to check with our owners to make sure the property will be available, and they are willing to rent it for the same terms. *You may also request a reservation for a 30 nights or more if you’ve never stayed in that property before, but we need to check with the current tenants AND the owner. *There are hundreds of people waiting to rent a home for one to three weeks. We open up weekly rentals in February or March depending on the property. Most of these rentals run Saturday to Saturday, but you can request other days as well. As long as it doesn’t leave holes that can’t be filled, we will do our best to accommodate you. *We have even more people wanting to rent two to three nights. Of course, we understand you need to make your plans, airline reservations, etc. but it is very rare that we will rent less than a week unless it is within 21 days of the desired reservation date. Why? We also have renters that wait to the last minute to book a week or month. Most owners generally prefer to rent weeks and months. Holidays and other events such as Christmas, New Years, July 4th, local festivals, etc. are rented on a one week basis (we may offer less nights if it’s within 7-10 days) *Our rental rates are meant to be simple- we show a nightly rate/ weekly rate/ monthly rate. As stated above, just because the verbiage states a nightly rate does not mean you are free to book a nightly rate. Online bookings made that do not fit the above criteria will be cancelled. A nonrefundable reservation fee of $28.00 + NC State tax is charged on ALL reservations. Stay once- you'll want to come back time and time again

Fine house but not first rate. Great forest view and close to town. Cable TV was a problem in LR. Good value for money.

The location of this home was fabulous we walked to town two or three times a day. The house was very cozy, private, and the back porch was spectacular. We ate all meals out there...a bit chilly in the evening as it was right in the woods. The gas fireplace started with a click of a button and all TV's worked great. The furniture and all furnishings were hand selected for this cabin and were quite unique. The other homes on this secluded street were nice too and the jacuzzi and outdoor fire pit were enjoyed by all.

Beautiful cabin and location

Perfect location, beautiful cabin...just needs a little tlc. We had to replace light bulbs,decide where to store garbage, replace batteries for a remote and the internet did not work even though a provider did come out promptly.


Quiet and in walking distance to town

Nice private, quiet location at the end of a short street. Good mountain cabin atmosphere. Large family room with open flow to kitchen and dining room. Lighting in some areas could use improvement.

Hidden hollow was in a great location. You can easily walk to town, and yet have wooded privacy. You can hear the running stream on the back deck. House was clean and nicely appointed. Kitchen contained everything you need for making a big meal. Only surprise we had was the 3 black bear who wandered up to the back deck at 4 in the afternoon. Although, we read in the paper the town of Highlands frequently sees these 3 bears - so any in town property may have a visit from these bears.
